Star Savior — Beginner Guide
Complete beginner roadmap for Star Savior: the golden 4-Savior Star Link rule, squad positioning tactics, 3-phase progression priorities, and daily routine checklists.
- Rule #1 — Only Level 4 Saviors: The Star Link facility (unlocked at Episode 3-15) syncs all registered Saviors to your 4th-highest level unit for free, bypassing SSR duplicate level caps up to Level 200.
- Tactical Party Positioning: Slot 1 grants a flat +10 Turn Speed bonus to your primary buffer/opener; frontline slots absorb attacks via Defender mechanics while backline slots protect fragile carries.
- Journey is Non-Negotiable: Running Saviors through the roguelite Journey generates Stella Archives with massive bonus stats and Potentials, providing the bulk of early combat power.
- Mid-Game Gear Spike: Push Operations through Chapter 14 to unlock Tier 2 Equipment crafting; avoid wasting high-end upgrade materials on low-tier starter gear.

Rule #1: Only Level 4 Saviors! (The Star Link System)
Welcome to Lavistar, Captain! Star Savior combines turn-based RPG combat with a deep character-training system, which can feel overwhelming on Day 1. This Beginner Guide provides a step-by-step roadmap for your first week so you don't waste precious resources.
The single biggest mistake new players make is spreading EXP and upgrade materials across 6 to 8 characters. Never level more than 4 Saviors manually!
How the Star Link Facility Works
Once you clear Episode 3, Stage 15 of the main Operation campaign, you unlock the Star Link facility inside your HQ:
- Your 4 highest-level Saviors automatically occupy your Main Slots.
- The lowest level among those 4 becomes your global Star Link Level.
- Every other Savior you place into a Star Link registration slot will instantly sync to that level for free.
Bypassing Duplicate Level Caps
Normally, SR Saviors cap at Level 160, while SSR Saviors require 3 duplicate copies (Max Limit Break / MLB) to unlock their maximum Level 200 ceiling. By placing a 1-copy SSR inside the Star Link, they completely bypass their personal level cap and rise all the way to Level 200 alongside your 4 mains without spending extra duplicates!
| System Component | Standard Progression | Star Link Advantage | Recommended Action |
|---|---|---|---|
| Main Slots (Top 4) | Requires full EXP manual and Gold investment | Establishes global synchronization baseline | Level your 4 anchor units evenly |
| Linked Slots (Roster) | Manual leveling costs millions of Gold & EXP | Instantly inherits Star Link level for 0 resources | Register all secondary and situational units |
| 1-Copy SSR Units | Hard-capped below Level 200 without duplicates | Bypasses individual cap and scales straight to Lv. 200 | Place 1-copy SSR carries in Star Link |
| SR Support Units | Hard-capped at Level 160 naturally | Surpasses Level 160 ceiling when linked to 200 mains | Utilize high-utility SRs in late-game content |
Building Your First 4-Unit Party (Formation & Positioning)
A balanced starter team requires four distinct tactical roles. Pay close attention to Party Positioning when setting up your squad:
Formation & Positioning Rules
- Slot 1 (Leader Position): The Savior placed in the very first slot receives a flat +10 Turn Speed bonus. Always assign your fastest buffer, debuffer, or battle opener here.
- Front Line (Slots 1 & 2): Best suited for Defenders, tanky Strikers, or durable Supporters. If a Defender is active in your party, enemy targeting algorithms prioritize them first with a significantly higher hit probability.
- Back Line (Slots 3 & 4): Best for fragile Main DPS units (Rangers, Casters, Assassins) and squishy Debuffers to minimize incoming splash damage.
Recommended Starter Roles & Resource Split
- 1x Main DPS (70% of early resources): Channel the majority of early upgrades into one primary carry (such as Emily, Charlotte, or Lacy) so they can cleave waves quickly.
- 1x Frontline Defender (20% of early resources): Shields your party, absorbs frontline punishment, and provides taunt or debuff immunity (such as Hilde, Haydee, or Claire).
- 1x Buffer / Debuffer: Applies ATK Up, DEF Down, or Action Gauge pushes (such as Bell Rhys, Dana, or Bunnygirl Charlotte).
- 1x Healer / Supporter: Delivers vital HP recovery, shields, and debuff cleansing during extended boss encounters (such as Frey, Elisa, or Asherah Waltz).
| Party Role | Resource Budget | Core Function | Recommended Starter Saviors |
|---|---|---|---|
| Main DPS Carry | 70% Investment | Primary wave clear & boss execution | Emily, Charlotte, Lacy |
| Frontline Defender | 20% Investment | Damage mitigation, taunt & frontline shields | Hilde, Haydee, Claire |
| Tactical Buffer / Debuffer | 5% Investment | Action Gauge advance, DEF Down & ATK buffs | Bell Rhys, Dana, Bunnygirl Charlotte |
| Healer / Cleanser | 5% Investment | Sustained HP recovery & debuff removal | Frey, Elisa, Asherah Waltz |
Step-by-Step Early Progression Roadmap
Follow these three distinct phases during your first week on Lavistar:
Phase 1: Push Operation to Episode 3-15 & Chapter 4
Dedicate 80% of your early Stamina to clearing the main Operation stages as far as your Combat Power allows:
- Clearing Episode 3, Stage 15 unlocks the vital Star Link facility.
- Reaching Chapter 4 unlocks your daily resource farming dungeons, Candle Square challenges, and Gauntlet PvP arenas.
Phase 2: Do Not Neglect the "Journey" & Arcanas
Many beginners treat Journey as an optional side mode and hit an impassable wall around Chapter 10. Journey is mandatory for core combat power.
- Guiding a Savior through the Journey creates a Stella Archive—a permanent loadout of massive bonus stats and passive skills (Potentials).
- Even an Auto-Journey run provides a substantial stat surge compared to having no Stella Archive equipped, though manual runs yield vastly superior results.
- Stat Targets for Beginners: Stack Strength (STR) for DPS Saviors and Vitality (HP) for Defenders and Supporters. Equip 3 or more matching Arcana cards of the same stat type for efficient synergy, and always rest before failure rates rise (maintain Condition at BEST).
Phase 3: Push Operation Chapter 14 (Tier 2 Gear Spike)
Once your 4 main Saviors wield basic Stella Archives and leveled skill kits, push Operations until clearing Chapter 14:
- Passing Chapter 14 unlocks Tier 2 (T2) Equipment crafting, representing your first major mid-game combat spike.
- Crucial Tip: Avoid wasting rare enhancement stones heavily upgrading low-tier starter gear before reaching this threshold.
Daily Routine & Resource Tips
To make sure steady account growth without hitting resource starvation, execute this daily protocol:
- 1. Claim HQ Idle Rewards: Collect passive base mining and NOA funding rewards regularly so timers never cap out.
- 2. Clear Daily Resource Dungeons (15% Stamina): Sweep the highest unlocked stages in Candle Square for EXP manuals, Gold, and skill advancement materials.
- 3. Run Your Daily Journey: Complete at least 1 Journey run daily to build superior Parent legacies (targeting +35 stat parents or higher) and upgrade your active team's Stella Archives.
- 4. Climb Interstellar Corridor: Push higher floors whenever you upgrade your squad - it consumes zero stamina and provides massive one-time Stellagem milestones.
- 5. Spend Gauntlet Tickets: Even if unconcerned with top-tier PvP ranks, spend your daily Strategy Battle tickets to farm essential PvP shop currencies.
- 6. Preserve Your Stellagems: Avoid impulse spending on standard pools. Reserve Stellagems for Featured Savior Observations and high-priority Arcana banners (ensuring you can hit the 200 Mileage spark if required), keeping a modest reserve to unlock extra Star Link slots (500 Gems per slot) for Cosmo Gate team expansions.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why should I never level more than 4 Saviors? +
The Star Link facility unlocked at Episode 3-15 automatically synchronizes any registered Savior to the lowest level among your top 4 mains for free. Leveling extra units wastes scarce EXP manuals and Gold that should be concentrated entirely on your core 4 anchors.
Who gets the +10 Turn Speed bonus in combat? +
The Savior placed in Slot 1 (Leader Position) receives a permanent +10 Turn Speed bonus. Always position your fastest opener, buffer, or debuffer in Slot 1 so they can seize the turn initiative and control the Action Gauge.
Can a 1-copy SSR reach Level 200 without duplicates? +
Yes! While an SSR normally requires 3 duplicate copies (MLB) to reach Level 200, placing a single-copy SSR inside the Star Link allows them to bypass their personal limit cap and match your 4 anchor units all the way to Level 200.
